The following assumes that you are using a Windows system with Synapse client installed. This normally also installs Imagemagick.
- You need to use a tablet PC, or some other drawing tablet so that you can draw a decent signature
- Write your signature in MS Paint using the Paint tool with a slight thickness pen.
- Make sure it is moderately large as we are going to reduce it later on ( this leads to better quality )
- Move the signature to the top left and then shrink the white space to the very edge of the image
- Save the image as signature.jpg
- At the command line, use the Imagemagick tool "convert" to turn it into an EPS file
- Eg. convert -resize 100x100 signature.jpg sig.eps
- This also resizes your large image.
- Use GSView to view the sig.eps file to make sure it is the right size for your prescription.
- If it is too big or small, use different sizes in the above command line.
- You can test it in the script template. Put the sig.eps into c:\emr\client\sig.eps, or similar and then in your prescription template, try adding this
- at 210x75 eps %/c/emr/client/sig.eps just above the showpage command
- A yellow box appears in the test preview to indicate the approximate position
- When printing, you use the [Local PDF] - requires R213B40.9 or higher. Lower versions which use [ServerPDF] will disconnect the client
- You now need to upload the EPS to your account so that it is available
- In Settings/User/PostScript/E-Signature .. use the requester to find the sig.eps file, and then click on [Upload]
- Now modify your prescription template to
- eg. at 210x75 e-signature
- Now, when printing, you have the option of whether or not to include your electronic signature using the e-sign? checkbox.
For an alternative method using a scanned signature, try this: Make E-signature with a signature scan
