PDFs not loading correctly into browser? Blank Acrobat reader popping up?
Here are some essential facts:
1. Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Pro, and Foxit all have a setting "Preferences-->Internet-->Use PDF in Web Browser. If you have multiple versions of Acrobat Reader and/or Pro this has to be turned on for only one of them, and it may cause conflicts between versions if you've done various installs. Recommended to get your final configuration in order, then check and uncheck the box for each Acrobat version.
2. The plugin to coordinate FF to Acrobat is in the folder \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins. For Acrobat Reader and Pro, the file name is nppdf32.dll. For foxit, the plugin name is npFoxitReaderPlugin.dll. There can be version confusion in this file. My nppdf32.dll was for Acrobat Pro ver 8.1.79, and apparently some people have had their Acrobat Pro 8 stop working when the Adobe Updater installed ver 8.1.xxx. So I just disabled both the Foxit and Acrobat plugin by renaming them to XXXX.dll.bak.
